As a woman veteran of the United State Armed Forces, I am absolutely tired of hearing about the sex crime scandals in the armed forces. Drastic times call for drastic measures and it is high time we support an initiative that will encourage the selection of a woman being part of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS). Appointing the 1st woman into the JCS will be loud and clear message to those in the good ol’ boy network. It is a fact that more men play leadership roles in the Armed Forces. The many men who serve in military leadership positions will come to the conclusion (with a JCS woman appointment) that women are a force to be reckoned with and sex abuse will not be tolerated.
Any president promoting a woman to the JCS during his Presidential cycle would give many of us a sigh of relief and encouragement. It would be helpful knowing that more women are part of the “advisory committee”, which helps plan joint operations and resolutions of military problems because, as it stands, there appears to be too much testosterone fueling those key decisions.
It would be helpful for us to see balance at a strategic leadership level.

Lawmakers from both parties said Wednesday that they were appalled by the latest revelation: that the Army is investigating a sexual-assault prevention officer on suspicion of sex abuse and pimping. Several members pledged to overhaul the way the military punishes offenders and protects victims of sexual assault. FULL STORY>>>
