Republican Tim Donnelly gets the Baboso Award for the Year. He advocates for guns on Christian radio, but doesn’t know how to “love thy neighbor” when it comes to Mexican immigrants and Mexican American legislators in general.
Tim Donnelly, a Republican anti-immigrant California Gubernatorial candidate is singling Latino lawmakers. For those who don’t remember who he is, Tim Donnelly took two handguns on his first tour with the Minutemen, back in ’05 according to LA WEEKLY News. He was also the lawmaker in our neighboring State of California who wanted to introduce an Arizona anti-immigrant type of law.
Tim Donnelly is also the politician who was detained and charged with bringing a loaded firearm to an airport in 2012, pleaded no contest and given probation. Keep in mind, this is the same man who called in to the AM740 KBRITE Christian radio show, “The Bottom Line,” to discuss gun control when he revealed that he believes firearms are part of God’s plan. (Uh, sorry, Tim, but God also made it his plan to “Love Thy Neighbor” and you are giving the Christian religion a bad name.
According to UT San Diego, here is how the crazy Republican Tim Donnelly is targeting Latino lawmakers:
Gun-rights activists made a big splash in late October by announcing their intention to launch recall campaigns against several California lawmakers within a couple of weeks. including San Diego Democrats Ben Hueso and Lorena Gonzalez.
Nearly a month has passed, yet no papers have been filed and the boasting has quieted.
The delay should not be interpreted as a retreat, said Sam Paredes, executive director of Gun Owners of California and a recall campaign leader. Potential targets and timing are still being analyzed.
“I know we will be able to come to intelligent decisions before the year is out,” said Paredes.
But the campaign has run into some obstacles. Sen. Hueso and Assemblywoman Gonzalez won their special elections by wide margins in districts dominated by Democrats. The timing and recall rules also are not in the proponents’ favor, Paredes conceded.
Paredes teamed with Assemblyman Tim Donnelly, a Twin Peaks Republican who is also running for governor, to explore recall avenues after lawmakers passed about 20 gun control bills, of which a dozen were signed by Gov. Jerry Brown.
