Davis vs. Abbott

According to POLITICO:  Republicans argue that Hispanic voters tend to oppose abortion rights, and the GOP is planning to paint Davis as a backer of controversial late-term abortions, citing her opposition to a piece of the legislation that banned abortion at 20 weeks.

Not so fast GOP.

Where were the pro life leaders at when Republican legislators began the dehumanization process with regard to the Mexican American / Latino community and launching attacks against the 14th amendment — an amendment that so-called pro life activists have prided and covered themselves with before?  Indeed, the the majority of those who were attacking our 14th amendment via laws relating to birthright citizenship were Republican.   What makes things worse is many of these Republicans were involved with the State Legislators coalition and they garnered the support of pro-life organizations.    These Republican lawmakers are guilty of  quoting John Tanton networks via NumbersUSA and FAIR, and Mr. Tanton was the founder of a Michigan abortion clinic.   In other words, we see the GOP as hypocritical on the pro life issue.  Republicans used to be known for supporting pro life efforts, but we soon watched the Tanton network agenda seep into the GOP like a thief in the night as he raised millions of dollars convincing some within the GOP to support the attacks against birthright citizenship via the 14th Amendment of our United Constitution while dehumanizing immigrants who look like us in the process.

Here are samples of SLLI’s birthright citizenship attacks and how they began dehumanizing Mexican / Latino immigrants:

But now that a key national race will more than likely occur between Republican Attorney General Greg Abbott and Democratic state Sen. Wendy Davis, the Mexican American / Hispanic outreach will be like never before.  Bottom line:  The GOP needs the new burgeoning Mexican American electorate and women voters.

But it does not help Attorney General Abbott in the least bit when he basically said he wanted to undo and restructure the DREAM Act Governor Rick Perry once supported, and it certainly does no good to the GOP for their 2013 inaction to fix the broken immigration system.  Republican House Majority Speaker via Rep. John Boehner refuses to put the CIR issue on the floor for a vote even though  Rep. Nancy Pelosi says we now have the votes that will fix the broken immigration system enhancing our national and economic security with 190 cosponsors on H.R.15 and 29 Republicans vowing support.  Republicans own the House of Representatives and they are in charge of scheduling yet they refuse to put CIR up for vote.

The 2013 GOP inaction to fix the broken system spells trouble for them in 2014 – -to include the State of Texas.

Make no mistake, the immigration issue is “thee” No. 1 issue for Mexican American / Latinos.  Indeed several Catholic pro life Hispanics more than likely will not have abortions, however, I would encourage the National Right To Life and the Texas Right To Life  to listen to Latino leaders when they ask for support when attacks are being made on birthright citizenship by Republicans.  They ought not insult our intelligence because we have great memories and we are well aware of what is going on in our Nation.

No Immigration Vote in 2013 Spells Trouble for the GOP in 2014 regarding rising Hispanic voters.

2013 Immigration Inaction Spells Trouble for the GOP in 2014.

Anglo political leaders are making false assumptions about Hispanic voters, and regardless of how many political pro life ads are put out in media, the large elephant [immigration reform]  remains in the room and it cannot be ignored by Mexican American families who make up almost half of the population in Texas. Senator Ted Cruz was able to steal an election in light of his Hispanic surname and because he directly lied to Mexican American / Latino community when he once told them he was in favor of immigration reform. As a result of Sen. Ted Cruz’s lies, the Texas Mexican American population is already attaching the “Cruz the Cucuy” stigma to him, and chances are he will remain a one term Senator.

More and more women are getting involved into  the political arena, and this involves Latinas, too, when  we witnessed more women political leadership get voted into office last November 2012.

So what are the issues that are important to women?

woman voteWomen do not believe in forced separation of families.  We believe for the most part children need time with their mother.  We know that Republican Party leadership does not express urgency that will fix profiling and raids at car washes or fast food restaurants when Sheriff Joe Arpaio is arresting mothers who have kids at home and are hauled away into jail and being deported.  Indeed it was Texas Republican Rep. Lamar Smith who was the architect behind  the 287(g) clause within our immigration laws thus creating monsters like Sheriff Joe Arpaio.  It was Republican and ousted Senator Russell Pearce who created immigration scare laws with the help of Kris Kobach who became one of Mitt Romney’s advisors during the 2012 elections.

It has been approximately 9 months since Priebus gave the GOP a so-called prescription for women voter outreach — which happens to be the time it takes for a woman to make / have a baby, and as far as I’m concerned,  Reince Priebus gets an F on his woman voter report card. We believe he does not see the urgency in giving signals to the GOP Party leaders what women want and I will underscore that women do not like to see mothers forced apart from their children because they work in fast food restaurants or jobs Americans do not want to work. We do not like to see children cry when their mom or dad are hauled away for working in the agricultural fields, hotels and so forth.  When we see children cry, we hurt and get angry as our naturally tendency is to help those kids.

Rep. John Boehner, Rep. Eric Cantor and GOP Party Leader Priebus have not expressed urgency that will fix the broken immigration system, and women are recording the actions of all Party leaders despite women-led organizations supporting same.

Candidate Wendy Davis could indeed pull Texas off with the immigration reform inaction in 2013 by GOP leaders.

And since we have the votes for reform with RNC Chairman Reince Priebus expressing no urgency on immigration reform signaling a 14 month waitit could mean Republicans in the House of Representatives will lose their power and the majority seats they currently hold come 2014 — thus rendering a sweeter immigration deal with a combined Democratic-controlled House and Senate come 2015.

The RNC Chair may want to reconsider his 14 month signal.

The real pro life agenda is to protect life from the womb to the tomb. The National Right To Life should have listened to Mexican American / Latino leaders when we needed their help in light of Republicans attacking birthright citizenship.
